HISTORY
The New Opera Company of Boston was founded by Nathaniel Meyer in 2025, bringing together a dynamic team of talented musicians, opera singers, and production staff from around the Boston area. Our mission is inspired by the legacy of Sarah Caldwell and her legendary Opera Company of Boston, which was one of the most exciting and innovative companies of its time, and launched the careers of many leading opera singers. The New Opera Company of Boston was formed following the highly successful production of Puccini's first opera Le Villi in the spring of 2025. That production, organized and conducted by Nathaniel Meyer, was produced in cooperation with The Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts and the participation of their choral society. The soloists in that production were selected from participants in the first-annual Gala Opera Competition and the orchestra musicians included both professional freelancers as well as many of the talented local musicans who reside in our community.
